Type : LED     Resolution : 768p     Refresh Rate : 60 Hz

The LG LH564A is a basic 32 inch TV. It has an average picture quality with a wide viewing angle. Unfortunately, the TV does not handle the motion well. Sound quality is also average and the TV is quite similar to the models available in the same price range but looks more appealing as compared to other similar models.

Advantages:
  Good basic picture quality
  Good build quality
  Wide viewing angle
  Low Price
Disadvantages:
  Bad motion performance
  Poor contrast ratio

Design

Curved : No

The LG LH564A doesn’t look very premium but it certainly has a nice design compared to other LG low end models. Its black colour borders with a notification LED at the bottom looks simplistic and minimal.

Stand

The stand is solid and made up of good quality plastic. Design wise looks good and has a matte finish. It has a wide footprint and supports the TV well.

Borders

Top & Side Border : 0.6" (1.5cm)
Bottom Borders : 0.7" (1.9cm)

The borders have and average width and are made up of good quality reflective plastic.

Back

The back of the TV looks bulky with a reflective plastic finish. The input ports at the back will be hard to reach if the TV is wall mounted. Though ports at the side and buttons at the bottom will be easily accessible.

Thickness

Max Thickness : 3.1" (8.0cm)

The TV is very thick and looks odd if wall mounted.

Build Quality

Build quality is good. The whole TV is made of good quality plastic. The table stand and remote also has a decent quality.

Picture Quality

Contrast Ratio

Black : 0.120 cd/m2
White : 120.845 cd/m2
Contrast : 1007:1

The blacks are not very deep and as usual like other IPS panels, contrast ratio is low.

Peak Brightness

Peak 2% Window : 207.5 cd/m2
Peak 100% Window : 206.4 cd/m2

The peak brightness is low even for SDR content, thus picture does not get very bright and looks washed out. Also the peak brightness value is same for all window size because of absence of local dimming feature.

Viewing Angle

Panel type : IPS

The viewing angle is very good and suitable for a wide bedroom. The colors lose some saturation at an angle with slight reduction in contrast but the overall performance is quite a good.

Panel Uniformity

Max Colour Dev. (50% pattern) : 1.5
Avg Luminance Dev. (5% pattern) : 12.23%

The LH564A has good colour uniformity. Max deviation is 1.5 which is not visible to the naked eyes. Luminance uniformity is also good and there are no major uniformmity issues.

There is a minor flash lighting at the bottom of the screen. Also blacks are slight blueish but the overall panel uniformity is good.

Native Resolution - 768p

The picture quality is average as the TV is only HD Ready, as a result picture looks blurred and lacks clarity.

Reflections - Bright Room

The TV is not good at handling reflections. With a strong reflection in a bright sunny room, entire colour looks washed out and the area facing the reflections was only partially visible. Thus, the TV is not recommended for a bright room or one with direct reflections from the back.

Local Dimming

Local Dimming : No

The LH564A lacks the local dimming feature. The picture quality is decent and there are no halos visible on the edges and in the middle.

Gamut Coverage

sRGB gamut coverage : 95.46%
Adobe RGB gamut coverage : 72.08%

The colour coverage of the TV is quite good as it covers 95% of the sRGB color gamut.

Pre Calibration

White Balance dE : 11.23
Color dE : 7.47
Gamma : 2.27

The pre calibration results are not very good. Both grayscale and colour dE are off.

Post Calibration

White Balance dE : 1.93
Color dE : 1.57
Gamma : 2.27

Unfortunately, there are no calibration options on the LG LH564A, the only changes made were to the colour temperature and backlight. This has pretty much improved the Grayscale and Colour dE.

Motion

Motion Blur

Motion Blur performance is below average. Response time is higher than normal, resulting in a trail behind the moving picture. Thus, the TV is not very good for watching sports.

Motion Interpolation

The LH564A lacks the motion interpolation feature.

Inputs

Input Lag

Game mode : 26.5 msec
Outside Game mode : 26.4 msec

The TV has low input lag and thus good for gamers. It is however almost similar to TV's available in the similar price range.

Conclusion

The LG LH564A is a budget TV with good build quality. The picture quality is not very good compared to 32 inch high end models but is decent enough considering the price.

The TV shows performance is not good especially if watched during the day. Movies and other stuff watched during night will also look average because of poor contrast ratio and absence of high end features like local dimming. Sports performance is below average mainly because of poor motion handling.

Overall, the LH564A is a very basic TV with no high end features and the performance is also similar to other basic models by LG. The only pros are low price and a durable quality by a leading TV brand.
